Things are getting HOT!

Early May here and the crappie are done spawning. Several schools have moved off the banks in search of food. Now it's all about brush piles and deep docks. We've been very fortunate to limit up several trips in a row.
Bass are still up shallow biting a variety of baits mostly soft plastics. Topwaters to start the day and then we'll slow down and crawl some baits in between some docks or fish some shallow ledges. Shad are spawning too which can trigger a few extra bites.
Things are shaping up to be another solid year. Water conditions are normal and fish are setting up in typical locations.
I expect several customers to start booking their summer trips to the Lake in the next few weeks. Take a morning or 2 and go fishing. I'd be glad to take you out and show you this beautiful lake.

winter 2015

Jan 2015
Middle of winter here in the Ozarks everyone is starting to get a little cabin fever. Luckily I have just the fix for your fishing itch. Several nice days in the 60's here recently has got me hitting it pretty hard again trying to get back on fish. We had a pretty cold December and a fair amount of ice the last couple of weeks. Local forecasts for the next couple weeks are very promising though, several days in the 40's and 50's scheduled and no below freezing days for a while. Water temps are 38 or so in the mid lake, 42 on the lower end. Pretty standard middle of January so far, but not much in the way of frozen precipitation. Couple of very nice crappie trips lately vertical fishing secret honey holes of mine in the mid lake area. White crappie in big wintering groups hanging around 30-38feet of water in brush. Couple dozen average sized crappie have made for some yummy fish tacos earlier tonight. Finding the right brush in the that deep of water is hard to find but it is pretty easy to catch them if you find the brush. Purple and white tubes with a crappie nibble has been the best lately. Fish it slowly, tick that brush, lift, hold, wait, set the hook. Good electronics are a must. Too strong of a wind can really mess with you so try it on the sunnier light wind days.

Bass have been fine. Had a friend out with me Saturday where we had a nice day. 7 Keepers but no big ones. Handful of shorts too. Secondary points inside the big coves without a lot of wind for the best jig fishing. Jerkbait bite has been sporadic this year. A-rig has caught a few lately. The warm water springs this winter have been a big dud so far this winter. Don't know why, we had 52 degree water the other day and barely caught anything. Bass fishing in general can be moody. One day you can do pretty well, next day not much at all. Windy days use that jerkbait, really windy days use a-rig, light wind means the little finesse jig, no wind means crappie fishing.
